London, ENGLAND: Friday 31st October 2025
Publisher of tabletop roleplaying games, wargames and board games, Modiphius Entertainment has today launched the fourth edition of its free PDF for Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20, Halloween Horrors IV: Arctic Abominations.
For its fourth malevolent incarnation, this year’s Halloween Horrors has a distinctly wintery theme with an assortment of five particularly heinous arctic abominations suited to cold and snowy environments.
Fire was one of mankind’s primary tools, helping him keep warm, cooking his food and bringing protection against the icy cold of winter. It also helped keep the monsters away.
How will your agents fare when they face the fearsome Chenoo, shaggy humanoids with matted white hair stained with the blood of their kills, the result of a strange Soviet super science experiment? Dare they encounter the Shapeshifting Ijiraq who take a malevolent joy in killing and torturing their victims after corrupting their innocence?
How will they respond to the monstrous Ikuutayuq, near immortal servants of the Great Old Ones, whose pallid and corpulent bodies conceal a mind full of evil and whose blackened teeth love nothing better than the taste of human flesh?
How will they deal with the loathsome Lindworm, a gigantic mixture of dragon and worm which is carnivorous, fiercely territorial, and quite capable of swallowing a human whole?
Finally, can your agents resist the siren song of U-627, the Dead Choirmaster, a mysterious mixture of mythos entity and lost U-boat which has returned from the waters beneath the north pole bringing with it a symphony of madness and death?
Find out in Halloween Horrors IV: Arctic Abominations, the annual celebration of ghastly and ghoulish from the world of Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20, the RPG which mixes cosmic horror with World War II in a pulp-influenced world of action, adventure and magic.
All of the Halloween Horrors can be readily adapted for other RPG systems and this year’s edition features the winner of Modiphius’ Design a Mythos Monstrosity competition with U-627 created by Ted Mittman.
Modiphius has also launched the free one-shot priority mission A Cold Day in Hel which features a custom-written scenario for these arctic abominations to inhabit.
John Houlihan, line editor of Achtung! Cthulhu said, “We’re delighted to toll the bell and unleash our annual fright fest upon an unsuspecting world. With these five terrifying entities plus a tension-fuelled mission, 2025 is going to be a Halloween to remember… for all the wrong reasons.”
