Launching Tomorrow – The BattleTech: Clan Invasion Kickstarter!

(July 16, 2019) Hot on the heels of the wildly successful launch of two new boxed sets, Catalyst Game Labs is bringing the BattleTech tabletop game to Kickstarter this Wednesday, July 17 to unleash totally remodeled Clan and Inner Sphere ’Mechs onto game tables worldwide.

Utilizing the same process that modernized the nine BattleMechs found in the bestselling BattleTech Beginner Box and BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat box sets, each ’Mech included in the Clan Invasion Kickstarter has been painstakingly redesigned, holding to the spirit of their classic design while embracing a modern aesthetic.

Charlie Hall of Polygon called the minis in BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat “the real gem” of the set, and the minis of this expansion will be the same quality.

“For thirty-five years giant ’Mechs storming far-flung worlds and blowing stuff up has been a powerful, visceral draw to multiple generations,” said Randall N. Bills, Managing Developer of Catalyst Game Labs. “And we’ve spent the last few years working hard to redesign the fan-favorite ’Mechs, meshing modern sensibilities with the elements that made the classic designs favorites in the first place. The wild success of the Beginner Box and A Game of Armored Combat indicates we struck the right balance. The Clan Invasion Kickstarter allows both us and the fans to go wild and bring in multiple waves of these great redesigned, high-quality plastic miniatures.”

The focus of the Kickstarter campaign is the Clan Invasion box set, which adds five popular Clan OmniMechs to players’ arsenals including the seminal Timber Wolf (Mad Cat). It will also contain a bevy of support materials, the rules needed to play Clan technology, all new maps, and more.

Stretch goals will fill the ranks with more Clan and Inner Sphere ’Mechs boasting all-new looks. Each goal achieved brings more of the “gems” to tabletop play.

Now in its thirty-fifth year, BattleTech remains an engaging and exciting gameplay experience for all ages, as illustrated by this story from James Floyd Kelly, writing on GeekDad:

“I played the game with my two boys (ages 11 and 8) … I let them team up against me and they whooped me good once they figured out some basic tactics of working together to reach my blind spots. My 11 year old was screaming for another game and begging for me to invite some of his friends over to teach them. And we’re going to do exactly that.”

The BattleTech: Clan Invasion Kickstarter campaign from Catalyst Game Labs launches this Wednesday, July 17 at 1 p.m. EST / 10 a.m. PST.
