Wizards of the Coast, Extra Life Join Forces to #ChangeKidsHealth

Children-designed Magic: The Gathering cards, Dungeons & Dragons products available for donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising event

Renton, Wash., October 20, 2022 — Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS), and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are partnering together to raise money for critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, and child life services for kids around the country.

Wizards of the Coast has been a partner of Extra Life and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 2013. Collectively during that time, the Wizards of the Coast community has rallied together to raise more than $4 million for sick and injured kids in North America.

“My favorite thing about doing charity work for kids is how willing everyone in the company is to say yes and to join in,” said Mike Turian, product architect for Magic: The Gathering. “At Wizards, we create games where kids can be anything they want to be. Seattle Children’s Autism Center brings that same joy through the work they do developing kids to their full potential.”

Four unique Magic cards, inspired by drawings from children, will be available as a Secret Lair offering beginning on Nov. 4. The cards feature Lathiss, Dragon Queen; Birds of Paradise; Silver Legion; and a secret card. For each purchase, 50% of the price will go to Extra Life and the Seattle Children’s Autism Center.

All the Secret Lair x Extra Life cards were created by children who were former patients at Seattle Children’s. Their renditions of Magic cards were carefully redone by professional artists to showcase the kid-inspired characters in their natural settings.

For Magic: The Gathering Arena players, four sleeves featuring the children-inspired Magic Cards art will be on sale with all the proceeds going to Extra Life. In addition, those influencers who sign up to be part of the Wizards Extra Life Superteam and raise at least $100 will receive two special card codes to give out to their community.

But there is more!

Flap Jack the flumph from our recent Spelljammer release will appear on D&D-themed Extra Life T-shirts and as a familiar in Codename Entertainment’s “Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms” digital game. There will also be incentives that will thrill and excite players of D&D for donations on the Wizards of the Coast Extra Life 2022 page.

“The generous philanthropy efforts of Wizards of the Coast support some of our most innovative and creative initiatives related to community outreach and training, building our capacity to serve more patients and families, and improving our systems to deliver more equitable patient care,” said Mendy Minjarez, executive director of Seattle Children’s Autism Center.

In 2021, more than $1.13 million was donated by fans of Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and Wizards of the Coast, much of it through the Extra Life fundraising event, to the Autism Center to help change kids’ health care for the better.

Seattle Children’s Autism Center is nationally known for innovative research and high-quality care for patients and families throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Along with providing diagnostic evaluations and therapy programs, the Autism Center team focuses on helping patients build on their strengths, manage change, and maximize their potential. These tools are a lifeline for individuals with autism, who may be at risk of other mental and behavioral health issues like anxiety or depression if they do not receive necessary services and supports.
