  1. The Mystical Throne says:

The Radical’s Handbook is a definite must have for those wishing to add some dark flavor to their Dark Heresy adventures or campaigns. Of the first 4 Dark Heresy sourcebooks, this one is my favorite.

    COVER ART
The cover art is phenomenal. It does an excellent job of bringing out the idea of placing a chaotic twist into your game. It definitely draws you in and demands that you read what’s inside.

    CONTENT
The details of the content found in the book is amazing. The reader is never left guessing what it means or how to apply it. There are numerous explanations of different Radical groups and how they can affect a game. There is lots of content on different radical concepts and how to apply them to a game. One of my favorite sections is the alternate career ranks that give an added flavor to the game while possibly throwing in some chaos into the mix.

    ILLUSTRATION/ART
The art is phenomenal. This sourcebook (so far) has what I would state as the best Dark Heresy art to date. And the best part is how much of it has been added to the book. Even if a player never intends to add the path of the radical into a game, the art in this book is enough to justify the reason to purchase. It’s very rich, it’s very gothic, and it’s very 40k!

    LAYOUT
The layout of the book is good, but the table of contents and keyword reference page make any layout complaints a mere second thought. Fantasy Flight Games makes it very easy to find the subject matter you wish to read (or re-read).

    FLUFF
The fluff in this book is immense! To me it appears that this book contains more fluff than any of the previous books. Fluff is a great way to get a feel for what is being presented in a narrated fashion that can be easily extracted and applied to an adventure or campaign (more campaign than adventure though). Not only is the fluff abundant, but it’s presented in a way that looks as though it comes from official documents locked away in an inquisitional vault somewhere.

I recommend this book not only for those wishing to add the Radical element to their games, but also those looking for a rich amount of background fluff/story and those who love the 40k art!
