Gluttony will leave you hungry for more. While not the longest product out there, you will feel as though you’ve been served a four-course meal by the time you are finished reading it.

RATINGS

Publication Quality: 9 out of 10
The cover of Gluttony is well-done but not as on-point as the cover of Monsters of Sin #2 Envy. None of us should be surprised to see a portly man eating at a table to depict gluttony. There are a few devil-like creatures acting as the waiters, which is a nice unexpected touch. I would liked to have seen a skinny man at an overfilled table eating with one hand while pointing out something that appears even better than what he is eating. I get where the artist was going with this and while it was well-executed and drawn, the concept could have had more power. I will say that I enjoy the subdued colors used for the series thus far. By sticking to that same color scheme and the same artist, Monsters of Sin is doing a good job of establishing its brand.

Mechanics: 9 out of 10
All of the creatures in this supplement are of slightly higher CRs than those in the previous supplements in the Monsters of Sin on the low end. On the high end they go no higher than CR 18 (not that defeating a CR 18 creature is a small task). A couple of the creatures in this supplement increase in size under specific conditions. This isn’t a big deal but could cause problems for the GM in the middle of a heated encounter. Some of these size increases are determined on the size of a creature consumed, this is yet another metric to track and a consumption chart may have helped. The creators of this product included good rule-support for these occasions, but it could have been a bit more GM friendly.

Value Add: 9 out of 10
The parts of the whole are good and the sum of the parts increases the value of the whole! Like the preceding products, this works fine on its own. Because of the entire series concept, some of the creatures in Gluttony do not translate as well as some of the other Monsters of Sin to a non-seven deadly sins situation.

Overall: 9 out of 10
I really want to give each book of this series a 10 but there are just a few fine-tuning issues in each supplement that are hurting them. I’m hoping that by the time we reach sin seven, this series will be pulling tens. There is so much goodness here it is hard to satisfy one’s self with just one supplement. Thankfully there are only seven deadly sins and each supplement is only 10 pages long. So even if you use all of the creatures that Open Design/Kobold Press provides, no one will call you a Glutton.

Monsters of Sin #3: Gluttony Gluttony is an epic fantasy supplement from the Monsters of Sin series of supplements for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game written […]

[1935,169
336,2166,2012,235,14
post-26154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-headlines","category-reviews","tag-epic-fantasy","tag-kobold-press","tag-monsters-of-sin","tag-open-design","tag-pathfinder
["GET
