Creator and Writer Ed Jowett, creator of the critically-acclaimed roleplaying games ERA: THE CONSORTIUM, ERA: THE EMPOWERED and ERA: SURVIVAL, has launched a new Core Rulebook in partnership with Shades of Vengeance to explore a new post-apocalyptic world, where Angels and Demons have brought their war to our world, destroying Human civilisation underfoot.
Shades of Vengeance presents ERA: FORBIDDEN, creator and lead writer Ed Jowett’s dark vision of a post-apocalypse where angels and demons have destroyed human civilisation, which was caught in the middle of their never-ending war.
Players take the roles of “Forbidden”, Humans who have touched a weapon or other item which was once carried by an Angel or Demon. Upon touching it, the item is bound to their soul for ever, changing them into heroes who can match the Angels or Demons in single combat.
Unfortunately, the world becomes unsafe for Forbidden – they are now a threat to both the Angels and the Demons. Most Forbidden choose to protect what remains of Humanity from the war, but that can often involve facing forces with more resources and power than you can imagine. Only intelligence and strategy, combined with the amazing strength of the Forbidden, will allow a character to survive long…
The Core Rulebook is planned to be around 250 pages in length and to include:
- 40 different Remnants for the players to shape their character as they see fit!
- A Bestiary of 30 Humans, Angels and Demons that you might encounter!
- A list of factions and locations that may be found as characters roam the world!
- A complete guide to character creation and the rules for gameplay.
- A history of the conflict, along with several stories to set the scene of your adventure!
“It’s a whole new world to explore,” says Jowett. “But, more than that, it’s a game which is designed for smaller groups, which makes it unique among the current Era d10 games.
If you want to play with only one or two players, it’s well-balanced for that.
“It’s a universe that I always wanted to expand, but it’s great to have a year’s experience of running and playing the game to inform the content of the Core Rulebook. The feedback from both players and GMs has been invaluable to making sure the book provides everything that a group could need.”
The Core Rulebook is available for £20 on the Kickstarter, but backers have a wide range of options, including a Collector’s Edition of the Hardback Rulebook, signed by the creators! The Kickstarter launched on 5th October and runs until 1st November 2020.
